The man who wants to live the future
needs the past.
In 1958, the Società Idroelettica Atesina of the Montecatini Group built a reservoir at the entrance to Monguelfo.
Flora Gitzl, who was born on the Plaiknerhof farm and was already a passionate cook at the time, decided with her husband Josef Ellemunter, a shoemaker from Valdaora, to build a guesthouse and run it.
In 1963, a small inn with 15 beds was inaugurated. Flora and Josef gave birth to three children, Reinhold, Robert and Walter. Reinhold and Robert supported their parents in running the inn, while Walter became the young farmer at the Plainknerhof farm.
The inn was rebuilt for the first time in 1980, creating accommodation with 45 beds. Flora was a passionate cook at that time, conjuring up traditional dishes and, above all, fish platters in the hotel kitchen
for many years.
In 1999, the hotel was officially handed over to the eldest son Reinhold. A further refurnishing took place in 2012, during which the number of beds was increased to 60.
To this day, the hotel is run by Reinhold and his wife Margareth from Terento. They are actively supported by their children Silvia, Doris and Verena.
